Metric Cooking Firefox

Metric Cooking

Annotates US cooking units with their metric equivalent (e.g. 1 3/4 cups sugar [350 g])

Features & Capabilities

Metric Cooking is a handy Chrome extension that automatically annotates US cooking measurements with their metric equivalents on recipe web pages. It converts familiar US volume measures — like cups, tablespoons, and sticks of butter — into precise metric volume and weight units (e.g., milliliters, grams), making it simpler to follow recipes with a kitchen scale or metric tools.

Whether you're unsure what a "stick of butter" measures or need an exact weight for "3/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons" of sugar, this tool adds clear metric annotations right next to the original measurements. It even attempts conversions between volume and weight where possible and includes metric equivalents for oven temperatures and pan sizes. Users can also report unannotated recipes via GitHub for improved support.

User Reviews

Only a three star, because yes, it does convert to metric. The problem I have is that I have to press the button to do so, I want it to be fully automatic every single time I enter a new website for a new recipe. I also want it to remove the imperial units, not have it be 500 cups (2000 grams) of butter. Also, I did add 2000 grams of butter to my cake and now my oven is filled with butter and I can't get it out. This is not relevant to the review I just deeply screwed up.
