metheus-app

Turn the web and streaming video into your language-learning workspace.

Features & Capabilities

🌍 Turn the web and streaming video into your language-learning workspace.

Metheus is an advanced language immersion extension that lets you study directly from the content you already consume: videos, articles, social media, and everyday websites. Instead of switching between tabs and external tools, Metheus brings vocabulary tracking, instant dictionary lookups, subtitle workflows, and study capture directly into your active browsing session.

🚀 What Metheus helps you do:

🌐 Learn while browsing any website: Visually track your progress. Metheus colorizes words based on your learning status and lets you trigger the Metheus dictionary popup while reading anywhere on the web.

🎬 Study from streaming video: Unlock subtitle-aware tools, interactive overlays, and mining workflows on supported video platforms.

⚡ Save full-context study material: Capture the unknown word, its exact sentence context, the source URL, screenshots, and audio clips (when available) for later review.

🔄 Sync with your Metheus account: Seamlessly send your captured study data to the Metheus platform and continue reviewing in your decks and workflows on metheus.app.

⌨️ Keyboard shortcuts for fast study: Stay in the zone with quick shortcuts, including Ctrl+D for the dictionary popup and additional mining/overlay controls.

✨ Key Features:

Web vocabulary highlighting across pages.

Dictionary popup for fast lookups (Ctrl+D).

Streaming subtitle mining workflows.

Side panel controls and immersion tools.

Local storage for settings and cached study state.

Metheus account integration for sync and review.

Multi-language interface support (20 localized package languages).

📺 Supported Scenarios: Metheus includes integrations and workflows for common streaming/video sites and general web pages. Platform support may evolve over time as sites change their player implementations.

🔒 Privacy and Permissions Note: Metheus requests broad page access (host permissions) because its core functionality depends on reading page text and interacting with video pages to provide vocabulary highlighting, dictionary features, and subtitle/learning overlays. These permissions are used to power user-requested language-learning features, not advertising.
