LV Active Members

This extension automates the process of looking for "active" members on Librivox.

Features & Capabilities

HOW TO USE

  • Click the extension's icon in the extensions tray to open the menu.
  • Toggle the Activate setting to turn the extension on or off. The icon will apper in color when active.
  • Once it's activated, go to the Librivox member list page. Log in if necessary.
  • Follow the instructions in the overlay box.
    • Navigate to the last page of the member list,or the last page of members you want to include.
    • Click the SCRAPE button to start, click again to pause. (The script will resume where you left off.)
    • Select the Full Scan option to start fresh.
    • When it comes to the end of the month, the script will skip ahead to the member ID number of the first member to have signed up in the selected month of the following year, and continue scanning sequentially from there. Note that some months may have a large number of unassigned member IDs.

RESULTS PAGE

  • A link to the results page will appear at the end of the SCRAPE process.
  • It can also be manually opened via the menu in the extension's browser icon, or via the context menu (right-click anywhere).
  • Changing Month in the dropdown list will automatically reload the page to display the corresponding data.

CATALOG SEARCH

  • The results page will show all found users sorted by year.
  • The first column is a link to the LV catalog with the user name as the search term.
  • The second column is a link to the user's forum profile.
  • Click any of the "------" to start the catalog name search.
    • This will open the Librivox catalog serach in a new tab.
    • Discovered catalog names will be saved in the database, and populated in the Libriversary page.
    • You can safely switch back to the results tab to watch the names get collected.
    • After the search results page is processed, the next name will be retrieved.
  • For any match errors, you may need to review the results to locate the correct match.
    • [multiple matches] - There are multiple readers who matches the search term.
    • [deep result] - The reader's name is not found in the first page of results.
    • [no results] - The search yielded no reader results

MISC NOTES

  • Click the "Clear" button to clear all data from memory/storage. Confirmation dialog will pop up to verify this action.
  • Collected data can be downloaded by clicking the corresponding "Download" link.
  • Previously saved database backups can be loaded into memory, to avoid having to re-initialize the database on a new device, for example.
