Extension summary
This is a simple extension which runs in the background and automatically refreshes Hacker News at a set interval via AJAX. By design, it only refreshes the index pages and not the discussion pages.
The extension provides options to set a custom refresh interval and to enable/disable a subtle animation of the YC logo upon a successful refresh. By default it will refresh once a minute, and will flash the logo upon a successful refresh so you know it is working.
In the spirit of being a good netizen, this extension will not attempt to refresh the page if it is running in an inactive/background tab; instead, it will immediately refresh the page when the tab is brought back into focus and will continue updating at the set interval until it goes out of focus again. It also will not accept a refresh interval less than 30 seconds.
Enjoy!
