Tide Now USA

Tide Now USA provides detailed tide predictions for all U. S. saltwater states. It has built-in tide data for 1,731 established tide stations. Each location's predictions are made from official tide data sources. Included tide data in the app is valid until the year 2100 without any further updates. These include yearly astronomical data for items that affect the tides.

The location selections are organized by state and region within the states. When a station has been selected, the tide prediction is calculated and displayed immediately. A complete forecast is shown for a 24 hour period with a tide table and graphical display.

Tides for any date can be selected with a calendar entry system.
Normally the present day's tides are shown. Swiping left or right
changes the display to the next or prior day.

Tide predictions for the "present 24 hour day" include instantaneous values for tide height, rising or falling direction and rate of change, and a tide table. The graph shows a time line cursor showing the present moment. This dashed cursor marks the tide graph present value, it touches the X scale where the time of day.

Tide predictions for "not the present day" are reduced to information valid for the entire 24 hour date selected. These include the tide table, heights graph, and the sun and moon information for that date.

A variety of graph displays are available, including a detailed one with sun and moon time lines along the top and bottom, a simplified one with just daylight hours illuminated, or a basic graph with just the elevations.

When the full detailed display is chosen, the Sun and Moon rise, set, and overhead transit times are shown time-aligned with the tide waveform for the day. In this arrangement, the moon phase and illumination are also indicated.

Eight shortcuts or favorites are provided, you can save any station to a favorite for immediate access with a simple swipe. You can run a favorite by swiping down and selecting one earlier entered. You can add a favorite, or you can clear a favorite.

Numerous commands are available in the app via tapping the ... area on the action bar. These include change state; favorites access; a map display for the current station (external call required); a show station information telling details of which official station is selected and how it works; display dark or light selection; a command indicating how much sun and moon data to show; a 12 or 24 hour clock mode choice; a command to mark a given height on the graph; a gestures reminder command; a graph-grid control; an observatory setting command; and contact info.
