YTM but Better

YTM but Better

Turn YouTube Music into a full, immersive lyrics player — the experience YTM should have shipped with.

What it does

Adds a synchronized, line-by-line lyrics view that scrolls with the music in real time — word-level highlighting where available, not just static blocks of text Finds lyrics far more often than YTM's own built-in panel, for far more songs across far more languages Off by a beat? A built-in sync offset slider nudges the lyrics earlier or later per song, so an imperfect lyric sheet is never a dealbreaker One-tap romanization for non-Latin lyrics, so you can sing along even if you can't read the script A centered artwork view and a clean fullscreen mode built for actually watching, not just background listening Four visual moods — Light, Dark, Dynamic, and Rain. Dynamic mode blurs whatever's playing fullscreen behind the player — the track's artwork, or the actual music video itself if that's what's playing — and can switch to slowly drifting animated colors pulled straight from the album art instead; Light and Dark get their own soft monochrome flow A built-in, click-or-drag timeline right in the player — no more hunting for YTM's own tiny scrubber Lets you flag a track with missing or mismatched lyrics in one click, so the lyrics keep getting better over time

How it stacks up

Most YouTube Music lyrics extensions overlay whatever they find, sync issues and all, on a background that never changes. YTM but Better finds lyrics other extensions come up empty on, and when a sheet is a little off, you fix it yourself with the offset slider instead of just living with it.

Why install it

YouTube Music's lyrics panel is small, easy to miss, and often just doesn't have lyrics for the song you're playing. This extension replaces that with a real, full-screen lyrics experience — the kind you'd get from a dedicated lyrics app — without leaving YouTube Music or paying for anything extra. If you listen to a lot of music with lyrics you actually want to read or sing along to, especially across languages, this is the missing piece.

Free, lightweight, and only active on music.youtube.com — it doesn't touch any other site or request any permissions it doesn't use.
