User Reviews

Users praise Firefox integration and KDE experience gains when KDE Connect for Firefox works, especially on KDE Neon and with GitHub-driven setup. However, Windows users face installation and compatibility problems (Windows 10). Linux users report persistent native host connectivity errors and device discovery issues (no devices/no version response). Overall, the extension helps browser integration and KDE workflows where setup succeeds, but cross-device functionality remains inconsistent across platforms.
Pros
  • Adds Firefox browser integration and sync with KDE Connect for browser interactions.
  • Works well on KDE Neon, improving the KDE experience.
  • Delivers as promised; a solid extension for KDE users.
  • Setup can be straightforward after following the GitHub instructions.
Cons
  • Windows: not working on Windows 10 with installation prompts and compatibility issues.
  • Linux native host: connectivity failures (could not connect to native host; no version response).
  • Linux: device discovery issues (no devices / no available devices).
Recent reviews
Doesn't connect to phone or PC host in Ubuntu 24.04 "ERROR: Could not connect to native host No version response received from native host." I'm guess this is some permissions problem, not sure why. Firefox is installed by default in Ubuntu.

Is KDE Connect Safe?

Risk impact
Risk impact measures the level of extra permissions an extension has access to. A low risk impact extension cannot do much harms, whereas a high risk impact extension can do a lot of damage like stealing your password, bypassing your security settings, and accessing your personal data. High risk impact extensions are not necessarily malicious. However, if they do turn malicious, they can be very harmful.

KDE Connect requires a few sensitive permissions. Exercise caution before installing.
