Kallam — Learn Arabic While You Browse

By: Kallama
Kallam gradually swaps English words for Arabic on the sites you already read — vocabulary in real context, no flashcards or schedules. Hover any word for its meaning, pronunciation, and three-letter root.

Features & Capabilities

Learn Arabic by doing what you already do online.

Kallam turns the websites you already visit — news sites, Wikipedia, Reddit, your favorite blogs — into a daily, painless Arabic lesson. It quietly replaces a share of English words with Arabic as pages load, so you build vocabulary in real context instead of grinding flashcards.

Hover any Arabic word to reveal its pronunciation, English meaning, and three-letter root. Mark the words you already know, and Kallam moves on to new ones.

HOW IT WORKS

• Install Kallam and pick a level (Level 1 replaces about 10% of common words). • Browse normally. The web looks almost the same — just sprinkled with Arabic. • Hover unfamiliar words. Mark the ones you know. Level up when you're ready.

WHAT'S INSIDE

• Contextual immersion — Words appear inside real sentences, the way your brain actually learns languages. • Five difficulty levels — From 10% replacement for complete beginners up to 95% for advanced learners. • Instant hover tooltips — Transliteration, English meaning, and the three-letter Arabic root for every word. • Root-based learning — Understand ك-ت-ب and unlock كتاب (book), كاتب (writer), and مكتوب (written) in one go. • Progress dashboard — Streaks, words learned, immersion hours, and your full word history. • Works on any site — No curated reader, no walled garden. Kallam meets you on the open web. • Offline by default — Vocabulary is bundled with the extension. Replacement works without a connection.

FREE TO INSTALL. NO ACCOUNT REQUIRED.

The free plan includes Standard mode, Levels 1–2, and the top 200 vocabulary words — enough to build a real habit.

PRO FEATURES — $8.99/month or $69/year

• Levels 3–5 and the full 5,000-word vocabulary • Quranic mode — 359 curated high-frequency Quranic words, with Surah and verse context on every hover. A living connection with classical Arabic for readers who want it. • AI-powered word explanations (pronunciation tips, mnemonics, root-family connections) • Cross-device progress sync

WHO IT'S FOR

• Self-directed learners who bounce off flashcard apps • Heritage speakers rebuilding vocabulary passively • Students supplementing a class, tutor, or textbook • Readers of the Quran who want living, contextual exposure to Quranic vocabulary
