User Reviews

Users praise the add-on for formatting, sorting, and editing JSON, and for handling large files. However, key drawbacks include no load/save functionality (requiring copy-paste), URL replacement that hampers testing, readability issues, and potential conflicts with Firefox's built-in viewer (with calls for a dark mode).
Pros
  • Formats, sorts and presents JSON nicely, a clear quality-of-life improvement.
  • Can open very large JSON files (e.g., 18 MB) that Firefox's internal viewer can't handle.
  • Acts as a JSON editor in addition to beautifying, offering editing capabilities.
Cons
  • Cannot load or save JSON directly; editing requires copying data in and out, not a true workflow.
  • Replaces the original URL with a moz-extension URL, complicating testing and URL testing workflows.
  • Readability issues: text colors are too light, font is small, with no zoom or customization.
  • May conflict with Firefox's built-in JSON viewer, sometimes requiring disabling it and lacking a dark mode.

It's too annoying that in Firefox version its replacing original URL (for example http-s://api.github.com/repos/tulios/json-viewer) with moz-extension://9d9f107e-28d1-4f57-a1b5-0913be97e86e/data/page/index.html?remote&href=https%3A%2F%2Fapi.github.com%2Frepos%2Ftulios%2Fjson-viewer I, as a developer, need to change url that i testing, but it hard to do But for chrome, and safari its haven't such "feature"
