Pause Script Execution Chrome Extension

Pause Script Execution is a lightweight Chrome extension designed to aid developers in debugging JavaScript-heavy web pages. When elements move too quickly or popups disappear on hover, this tool allows you to freeze script execution instantly with a customizable hotkey (default Ctrl+Shift+S) right inside Chrome DevTools. Under the hood, it triggers the JavaScript debugger statement, letting you inspect all ongoing activity.

To use, simply open DevTools, press the hotkey to pause scripts, and reload the page to hit the exact moment you want to debug. You can customize the hotkey via Chrome's Extensions Keyboard Shortcuts page. Note that with recent Chrome updates, you may need to disable "Content scripts injected by extensions" in DevTools settings under "Ignore list" for proper functionality. The extension is open-source and available on GitHub for transparency and contributions.

Extension safety

Risk impact
Risk impact measures the level of extra permissions an extension has access to. A low risk impact extension cannot do much harms, whereas a high risk impact extension can do a lot of damage like stealing your password, bypassing your security settings, and accessing your personal data. High risk impact extensions are not necessarily malicious. However, if they do turn malicious, they can be very harmful.

Pause Script Execution does not require any sensitive permissions.
