Toggle JavaScript: Swiftly Enable or Disable JavaScript

Toggle JavaScript is a simple, user-friendly Chrome extension built for fast toggling of JavaScript settings. It sports a global JavaScript 'master switch' for ease of use. Notably, it auto-reloads upon toggling to ensure correct page rendering. This tool was built particularly for the web developers, yet it can also be employed by anyone needing to swiftly enable or disable JavaScript without the complicated settings procedure. Unlike its counterparts, its overall functionality ensures pages are always rendered accurately.

Extension summary

Toggle JavaScript provides a simple, easy-to-access browser button to enable or disable JavaScript globally.

It was built with web developers in mind, but is equally useful for anyone who wants to quickly enable/disable JavaScript without having to dig deep into Chrome's Settings panel.

Features:

  • global JavaScript master switch
  • reloads when toggling to ensure accurate rendering (optional since v1.3)

More Info:

There are similar extensions that enable or disable JavaScript per-domain, but I find this over-complicated so I decided to build a JavaScript "master switch".

Also, similar extensions can cause pages to be rendered inaccurately after disabling JavaScript. This extension uses an auto-reload technique to ensure that pages are always rendered correctly after switching JavaScript on or off.

I hope you enjoy using it - if you do, please tell your friends about it and help me out by giving it a positive review. Thanks!

User reviews
This might work for casual users, but for developers/power users it fails on the sites that need it most. Tested with a popular torrent site that is notorious for using JavaScript (the requirement to allow JavaScript) to get around both Ad Blockers as well 100% negating he basic chrome features that combined should not only block all popups, background windows opening, and intrusive/adult ads. Tested by blocking every setting except JavaScript, turning on this extension & giving it full permissions, and turning off all other adblockers. Instantly the site knew I was using a JavaScript manipulating extension. Tested additional times with varying combinations of top rated ad blockers & this extension combined. No change.

It works great but, as other says, I would make the icon more distinctive for on/off status.
