What is Certificate Info?
'Certificate Info' is an open-source Chrome extension that provides validation level, expiry and additional information of the SSL/TLS server certificate of visited websites. It extracts certificate info for basic validation but should not be solely relied upon for certificate validation. The extension is designed for privacy, ensuring only hostnames, not full URLs, are processed by the backend API.

Summary

Please read the description carefully before installing:

This is a simple extension that displays the validation level, expiration and more info of the SSL / TLS server certificate of the website you visit to help determine the identity of the server.

CAVEATS:

  1. Due to the limitation of Chrome's extension API, the validation info is fetched and processed by our backend API, which only receives the hostname (not the full URL) you visit. Note that in TLS, hostnames are already sent in plaintext to the server because of SNI, regardless if you use this extension or not. For the same reason, the extension will only be able to display information of hosts available to connect from the public network.

  2. This extension extracts certificate info and performs very basic validation, it should be used as a reference and shouldn't be relied on for certificate validation.

  3. Certificate data is cached for 5 minutes.

As working as a IT admin specialist, what I would really like to see that icon color would match how quickly certification expires. For example, green color: certificate doesn't expire in 60 days, orange color 30 days, red color 10 days, or something similar. Even better, if experience date would be actually visible all the time without clicking the icon. I would love somebody to implement this my own idea. You heard from me, I would appreciate to be mentioned in the credits.

would also love to see the valid-until-date at a glance!
