Increase CSA

The INCREASE Citizen Science app empowers users to actively participate in a European experiment focused on conserving and characterizing genetic resources of key food legumes like chickpea, common bean, lentil, and lupin. The app facilitates registration, data collection on plant traits, photo documentation, sharing seeds, and accessing geographical and genetic information about legume varieties. This initiative supports sustainable agriculture and healthier food products by involving citizens directly in research and seed exchange.

Developed under the EU Horizon 2020 program, the app embodies principles of open science, innovation, and global collaboration. By tracking traits such as flowering time, seed size, and plant growth habits, and enabling users to share and explore the diversity of common beans, the app bridges citizen engagement with scientific breeding efforts to meet growing demand for plant protein alternatives in Europe.
