Rural monitoring is essential to ensure the success of national and European strategies for consumer health and environmental protection.

Remote sensing programs cannot be fully utilized due to the lack of field observations essential for calibrating and validating information.

The project aims to create a crowd-sensing platform that, through a network of voluntary contributors (producers, agronomists, etc.), will collect the essential field observations needed to exploit the potential of remote sensing imagery, both from established multispectral platforms and the latest hyperspectral sensors.

The project responds to the growing need of the EU and local authorities for detailed knowledge of the territory and will become a model for data acquisition in the rural context by integrating widespread technologies (GPS sensors, high-quality, high-resolution cameras) and widespread expertise (agronomists, agroforestry operators) for the production of detailed spatial data on a large scale. Furthermore, the involvement of various stakeholders in the construction and implementation of this system contributes to increasing awareness and sensitivity towards the environment and the territory.
