Features & Capabilities

Glimp S is a specialized Chrome extension designed to initialize Abbott Freestyle Libre 1 new sensors without the need for the official Abbott reader. Simply move the back of your NFC-enabled Android device near a new sensor and wait for two short vibrations confirming initialization.

Please note, Glimp S is not compatible with other Libre versions and is not an official Abbott application. Once initialized with Glimp S, sensors cannot be read with the Abbott Freestyle reader but require the Glimp app. Additionally, Wear OS is no longer supported due to Google Play policies. Use Glimp S carefully and at your own risk, as it writes data to sensor memory.

User Reviews

Glimp S is appreciated as a cost-saving alternative for managing glucose monitoring, especially with older Libre sensors. However, multiple users report significant issues such as damage to Libre Pro sensors, unrecognized or malfunctioning sensor readings, and confusing error messages. The app has limited support for newer sensors, and some core features are difficult to access or missing, leading to varied user experience.
Pros
  • Helps users save money by allowing readings from sensors without the official hardware scanner.
  • Allows activation/initialization of certain Libre sensors, especially older versions.
  • Provides an alternative app for reading glucose levels when official apps or hardware are unavailable.
  • Receives gratitude from users who found it useful, especially during holidays and difficult times.
  • Is a valuable tool for people with diabetes who need continuous glucose monitoring without relying solely on official apps.
Cons
  • Does not support or damages Libre Pro sensors, causing them to become unusable.
  • Users report sensor reading failures and errors after updates, leading to broken or unrecognized sensors.
  • App interface lacks expected functionalities like repair options or easily navigable menus.
  • Users experience error messages and unexpected exceptions without clear solutions, causing frustration.
  • Incomplete compatibility with newer sensor versions, including sensor 2 and devices like LG V40.

DAMAGES SENSOR, DO NOT USE! I tried to activate my libre pro sensor with this app, and it corrupted the sensor entirely and it made it completely useless! Total loss of sensor, Glimp app won't be able to ready glucose levels after initialising from this app. Sensors are expensive, and not to be experimented. Learnt the hard way
