PescApanha

PescApanha is a free mobile application developed and made available by the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA), aiming to learn more in order to better protect small-scale fishing and harvesting.
The IPMA invites fishermen and harvesters to voluntarily use the PescApanha app in order to improve the data currently available on small-scale fishing and harvesting activity. All information obtained is confidential and the data will always be analyzed in aggregate. The main objective of this app is to understand the spatio-temporal distribution of the fishing effort of the small-scale fishing fleet and harvesting activity, which will allow the identification and protection of the respective areas of operation.

The PescApanha application was developed within the scope of the "MONTEREAL" project (funded by Mar 2020, Portugal 2020 and co-funded by the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund - EMFF) and was also sponsored by the 40in40 organization. The app has been updated as part of the "MOPPA" program (funded by Mar 2030, Portugal 2030 and co-funded by the European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund).
