Entering the date of death will display the procedures for stopping, receiving, and inheritance in order of deadline. This is a useful guide to prevent missing out on unpaid pensions, funeral expenses, and inheritance registration. Notifications are free.
[Please Note]
* This app is not an app from the national government, local authorities, pension offices, tax offices, or professional service providers.
* Deadlines are general guidelines. Information from the relevant offices takes priority. Legally, the deadline is counted from the "date of learning."
* Amounts are estimates. Inheritance tax and benefit amounts are not calculated.
* The deceased's name, account number, and pension number are not entered. Data is stored only on the device.
* No full-screen advertisements are displayed.
We offer our deepest condolences for the loss of your loved one.
Procedures after death are divided into those handled by funeral homes or bereavement services, such as filing a death certificate and stopping pension payments, and those that must be claimed yourself, such as unpaid pensions, survivor pensions, funeral expenses, and high-cost medical expense reimbursements. This app automatically sorts the necessary procedures for a deceased person into "Stop," "Receive," and "Taxes/Inheritance" categories, and arranges them in order of deadline, simply by answering six questions (relationship, pension, health insurance, home/land ownership, and will) based on the date of death. It's a notebook for organizing procedures one by one, without rushing.
■ Procedures to Stop
* Death registration and cremation permit (up to 7 days from the day of death, counting the day of death as day 1)
* Suspension of pension payments (10 days for employee pension, 14 days for national pension. May be omitted if My Number is recorded)
* Loss of eligibility for health insurance and long-term care insurance, change of household head (14 days. 5 days for company health insurance)
* Procedures for mobile phones, bank accounts, cards, driver's licenses, etc.
* Receiving
* Claim for unpaid pension (Ideally at the same time as death registration. The statute of limitations is counted from the payment date, so early claim is advised)
* Survivor's pension, death benefit, widow's pension (for wives who have lost their husbands)
* Funeral expenses and burial expenses (2 years), high-cost medical care expenses and high-cost long-term care service expenses (2 years)
* Life insurance (3 years), child allowance, unpaid employment insurance benefits (6 months)
Taxes and Inheritance
* Probate of will, decision on inheritance renunciation and limited acceptance (3 (Months)
- Final tax return (4 months), inheritance tax return (10 months. If the deadline falls on a Saturday, Sunday, or public holiday, it will be the next business day.)
- Inheritance registration (3 years. For inheritances up to March 2024, the deadline is March 31, 2027), car ownership transfer, bank account ownership transfer
■ What you can do
- The nearest procedure is displayed on the homepage with a large number indicating "How many days left". Other sections are for this week, this month, within the next 3 months, and beyond.
* Chronological order: Your current position is displayed in the sections for 7 days, 14 days, 1 month, 3 months, 10 months, 1 year, 2 years, 3 years, and 5 years.
* For those who started using it several months later, past deadlines are grouped at the top as "things you can still do," and you are guided on notifications and declarations after the deadline, and claims before the statute of limitations expires.
* For each procedure, it shows when and where, what to bring (you can check this), points that are easily overlooked, estimated costs, and official sources.
* If you enter the deadline you heard at the counter, it will sort and notify you by that date (it can be adjusted to differences between municipalities and insurers).
* There are 5 status options: planned, in progress, completed, not applicable, and requested (funeral home, professional, family).
* Deadlines you enter yourself (bereavement corner reservations, company documents, etc.).
* Notifications are free. You will receive a summary notification once a day before the deadline, before the statute of limitations expires, and on the estimated date. For the first 7 days after death, only the information for that day will be recorded.
* The home screen widget displays the next procedure and the remaining days.
* You can export a list of procedures as a CSV file and share it with family members or legal professionals.
* When starting procedures for another person, save the current record as a CSV file before deleting it.
■ What not to include:
The deceased's name, address, date of birth, My Number (social security number), basic pension number, account number, amount of assets or savings, photos, and contact information for legal professionals or funeral homes will not be included. The deceased will be referred to by their relationship, such as "father" or "mother." Data is stored only on the device, and no account is required.
■ About advertisements:
There is only one small banner ad at the bottom of the home screen; no full-screen ads are displayed. Ads related to funerals, loans, and debt consolidation are blocked. All procedure guidance and notifications are free. Ads can be removed with a one-time purchase (290 yen).
