Invidition Firefox

Invidition

Redirects YouTube and Twitter to their alternative ads-free, privacy-friendly, interfaces.

Features & Capabilities

Invidition was a Chrome extension designed to redirect YouTube and Twitter requests to alternative, ads-free, and privacy-friendly interfaces called Invidious and Nitter. It ensured no direct requests to YouTube or Twitter would occur by transparently redirecting them in the background. Users could customize Invidious settings and select preferred instances, including their own custom ones.

The extension supported quick configuration from its popup menu and was compatible with other extensions like uMatrix and NoScript, with some manual configuration required. Importantly, Invidition respected user privacy by not collecting data, though the chosen instances might have their own policies. However, note that Invidition is now deprecated and no longer maintained. Users are encouraged to switch to the alternative Privacy Redirect extension by Simon Brazell for similar functionalities.

As it's no longer maintained, I don't use this extension for redirecting. However, I keep it around for one very helpful feature: clean Invidious link copying. For some reason, this feature is not mentioned in the about, but it has saved me so much time I would have spent editing the links manually. Thank you.
