The Cameroon Keyboard is a virtual touch keyboard app developed by SIL Cameroon to enable users to type in any Cameroonian language compliant with the General Alphabet of Cameroonian Languages (GACL). This extension allows you to send text messages, communicate on social media, and write in your mother tongue using your Android phone or tablet. Originally available on Windows for almost a decade, it now brings native language support to mobile devices.

Based on the unified alphabet ratified in 1979, which adds letters from the International Phonetic Alphabet to the Roman alphabet, this keyboard supports a wide array of Cameroonian languages. Through continuous research and support from SIL Cameroon, this extension helps preserve and promote local languages. It uses Google Firebase Analytics solely for performance and crash tracking without collecting personal data, respecting user privacy.

I downloaded and tried to activate this keyboard but got a warning saying " this keyboard may be able to collect all the text i type including passwords and credit card numbers" i can only use the app if I consent to this warning. This puts users at risk . More should be done for user data protection.
