The most common format is:

For example:

If you continue updating a work over multiple years, you can also write:

© 2024–2026 Your Name

The owner's name can be your personal name, brand name, or company name.

In many countries, including those that follow the Berne Convention, copyright is created automatically when an original work is made. You do not need to add a copyright notice for your work to be protected.

However, adding a copyright notice such as © Year Owner Name makes it clear who owns the work and can help discourage unauthorized use.

If someone intentionally removes a copyright notice or watermark before using your work without permission, it may be considered evidence that they knew the work was protected.

A copyright notice is not required for copyright protection, but it is a widely used way to show ownership and help protect your work.
