User Reviews

Pocket Marine is praised for its comprehensive logging and databases for reef tanks, including multi-tank tracking and a modern UI. However, users report stability and data management issues, poor syncing/backups, unit and parameter customization problems, and a lack of export or cloud backup features. Addressing these would greatly improve reliability and cross-device usability while preserving its strong logging capabilities.
Pros
  • Comprehensive tracking of water parameters, tests, and tank diary across multiple tanks.
  • Modern, user-friendly UI/design that many users compare favorably to other reef apps.
  • Robust livestock data management and reference content for reef species.
  • Useful features like test diary and graphs to visualize trends.
  • Multi-tank management support, making it suitable for hobbyists with several tanks.
Cons
  • Cross-device data sync/backup is missing or unreliable, risking data loss when switching devices.
  • Stability issues: crashes during setup or in specific sections; reports of data loss.
  • Unit/measurement support is incomplete or confusing (liters/gallons, Celsius/Fahrenheit) and hard to customize.
  • Default parameters are limited to nine visible options and are not easily customizable.
  • No straightforward data export or cloud account to back up or transfer data between devices.

Is there a way to switch from liters to gallons?

I was expecting so much more, compatibility of specific species of fish and inverts, recommended tank sizes, dosing recommendations. This is simply a tracking tool with limited encyclopedia of livestock. A paid app should offer more than, “Not much is known…”

Doesn’t save any of my testing days. I am currently cycling and can’t compare my days. 😡
