User Reviews

User reviews show LG ThinQ on Apple devices is plagued by slowness and reliability problems. The most common issues are a slow, unresponsive app and frequent drops in connectivity with TVs and Wi‑Fi appliances, including LAN/Wi‑Fi connection problems and sleep-time disconnects. Privacy concerns arise due to mandatory location services and data collection. Users also complain about limited remote features (no reliable remote start, inability to save cycles) and usability issues, with some updates making things worse. A minority still reports occasional solid performance and basic status features.
Pros
  • Shows status and time remaining for washer/dryer.
  • Occasionally works well for some users.
  • Allows naming appliances for organization.
  • Offers cycle options for appliances.
Cons
  • App is slow and unresponsive.
  • Unreliable connectivity to TVs and appliances with frequent disconnects, issues connecting over LAN/Wi-Fi, and drops when the device sleeps.
  • Requires location services / raises privacy concerns regarding location data usage.
  • Limited remote capabilities (no reliable remote start, cannot save custom cycles) and overall usability/UI issues.
  • Recent updates reportedly degrade performance or break the app.

My tv never stays logged in and the app sign in doesn’t work. It’s so time consuming it’s stupid.

I appreciate having alerts when my laundry cycles are complete, and having the downloadable cycle options. I can use the app as a remote if I can't find the TV remote. I like notifications when filters need changed in the refrigerator. Very easy to use handy and helpful app!

Downloaded this to control my dryer’s heat settings. The app doesn’t offer low heat. What it does offer: a mandatory email signup, a QR code setup that failed three times forcing me to manually type a long alphanumeric model number and a grand total of one useful feature (air dry mode). For 600MB. That’s bigger than most games that actually do things. The remote start “feature” requires you to physically press a button on the machine first. So you’re standing in front of your dryer… to start your dryer remotely. The logic is baffling. This reads like an app built entirely for the acquiescent Korean domestic market, then shipped internationally without a second thought. LG makes genuinely good hardware. This app is an embarrassment to it. Skip it unless you enjoy manually entering serial numbers in exchange for a marketing email subscription.
