User Reviews

The app is powerful with strong cross-device syncing and a rich feature set, but user reviews show frequent reliability and data integrity issues. Key drawbacks include problematic Quizlet/Excel/CSV import and export paths, unstable cloud sync that can erase progress or cause crashes, and a confusing UI with limited customization. Some users praise documentation and developer responsiveness and appreciate long-term studying capabilities, but several warn the app is not consistently reliable for large decks or long-term use.
Pros
  • Cross-device sync across Mac and iPhone (iCloud)
  • Versatile, feature-rich toolset (images, drawing, multiple card types, Dropbox import, flexible study modes)
  • Clear documentation and responsive developer support
  • Comprehensive, advanced studying capabilities suitable for serious memorization and long-term study
Cons
  • Quizlet import/search is broken or removed, limiting access to existing public stacks
  • Excel/CSV import issues (OneDrive import failure, multi-sheet data merged into a single set, CSV accented characters garbled)
  • Unreliable cloud sync leading to screen flicker, progress loss on sync cycles, and long synchronization times in large decks
  • Crashes and data loss (cards disappearing, unexpected app crashes)
  • Confusing UI/UX with terminology challenges, and missing controls (no font size adjustment, end-study flow can be awkward)
Recent reviews
- Cannot import Excel files from OneDrive. - When importing an Excel file, Studies imports all terms into one giant set instead of creating individual sets based on each worksheet in the workbook. - When importing a CSV file, Studies fails to properly read accented characters. Thus, imported sets contain garbage characters. I do not recommend this app to others.

Love that the flashcards sync between both device devices, so that I can quickly make flashcards on my Mac, but then review them anywhere on my iPhone.

I’ve been using the desktop and iOS apps for years now. At some point, I stopped seeing notifications, and the app badge with the current number of notes due to be studied disappeared, I imagine due to OS changes? The app does not seem to be under active development or maintenance anymore.
