Standard Online Share Trading is a secure, real-time trading app for shares, derivatives, and other JSE-listed instruments, provided by SBG Securities (Pty) Ltd. It enables you to track and trade subscribed instruments, create watchlists, manage risk with stop losses and price alerts, transfer funds between accounts, and access historical and delayed price data on your phone or smartwatch.

Getting started is simple: register at www.standardbank.co.za/sharetrading. While OST is standalone, you can also use the Standard Bank Mobile Banking app for a full OST view. Having a standard bank online share trading account is a waste. It’s unnecessarily expensive (R110 a month), they charge you over R100 for every trade, and you can’t easily see a long list of your previous transactions without needing to click multiple times to get the dates right. I’m more a fan of easy equities for my investing needs. I guess this is worth it if you’re an active trader because then the fee is less (I think). They also have a decent educational and analysis resources.
