User Reviews

Users praise Wiktionary Reader for its clean, no-frills interface and direct access to Wiktionary content, with strong language-learning data (etymology, cognates, translations, IPA). However, many reviews cite serious performance issues: slow typing response, long page loads, and frequent crashes. Ads and occasional loss of bookmarks after updates further degrade reliability. The app is appreciated for core dictionary functionality but needs stability improvements and a better ad experience.
Pros
  • Clean, simple interface that mirrors Wiktionary and focuses on quick lookups.
  • Rich language-learning data: etymology, cognates, translations, IPA, and example sentences.
  • Does not add extraneous features; lightweight and focused on core dictionary lookups.
Cons
  • Slowness and typing lag; long page loads and delayed responses.
  • Frequent crashes when typing, opening bookmarks, or performing searches.
  • Banner ads at the bottom; clutter and desire for an ad-free option.
  • Bookmarks can be lost after updates; risk to saved data.
  • Occasionally unhelpful or inconsistent definitions due to Wiktionary content.
Recent reviews
it has a solid interface. it does exactly what it says and nothing more. you type a word, matches are listed, you are fetched a definition. beautiful.

Love this app but it loads new pages on extremely slowly. If that gets fixed the app will be perfect.
