User Reviews

Users praise Mavis Camera for its deep professional features, ProRes support, timecode workflows, and multi-channel audio, all at no cost. Common drawbacks include audio/video sync when switching cameras, slow updates, external storage limitations, a steep learning curve, and device optimization problems on newer iPhone models.
Pros
  • Extensive professional features and controls (vectorscope, waveform, focus peaking, zebra, false color, presets, etc.)
  • ProRes support added for higher-quality exports
  • Timecode support enabling synced workflows with external apps and editors
  • Strong audio capabilities (multi-channel lossless audio, external interface compatibility; works well with DaVinci Resolve (iPad) and Logic Pro (Mac))
  • Free to use with substantial value
Cons
  • Recurring audio/video sync issues and playback orientation problems when switching camera angles
  • Infrequent updates; development pace has slowed
  • No external SSD ProRes recording or external storage support; limitations on workflow flexibility
  • Complex UI/learning curve; not beginner-friendly
  • Optimization issues for newer iPhone models (not optimized for iPhone 14/15) / device-specific performance

I do appreciate how this app supports syncing to my Atomos time code box! But I would love to see ProRes raw support (ISO and HDR). Also, I find the UI of this app bit clumsy and hard to use.

I have been waiting for an NDI capable camera with a good UI and Apple image stabilization for YEARS. IT’s finally here and it blows away anything you have ever used. Professional easy of use and it performs well. The Tally lights and recording indicator are next level. Just a joy to work with. Get it.
