User Reviews

MultiTimer is a powerful, highly customizable tool that handles multiple timers at once with real-time web view and cross-device syncing. It's especially useful for cooking, workouts, and tasks requiring parallel timing. However, users report recurring issues with alarms not reliably sounding in the background or on lock screen, mixed UX clarity, notification clutter, and occasional update-borne bugs that impact reliability.
Pros
  • Allows you to run multiple timers at once, perfect for tracking several tasks simultaneously.
  • Highly customizable and versatile, with many timer types, pages, and settings.
  • Syncs across devices and offers a real-time web view to monitor timers.
  • Very useful for real-life tasks like recipes, workouts, cooking, and routines.
  • Notifications and vibration work with Apple Watch and devices, giving alerts when timers end.
Cons
  • Alarm/notification reliability issues, especially in background or when the app is locked; sometimes no sound or notification.
  • User interface and overall user experience can feel confusing or not intuitive.
  • Notifications can become cluttered; lock-screen alerts may persist and require opening the app to reset.
  • Bugs introduced by updates can affect audio/alerts and overall reliability.

Among many things this app is great for, it shines for cooking. Timers use live activities to keep the timer on the Lock Screen. You can also share pages of timers across the web, so others can track the time left on their devices. Glad to have multitimer in the toolkit for cooking as well as for workouts. The app has the option to configure timers as system alarms which solves the problem of third party timer apps being at the mercy of the phone’s silent/do not disturb status. I also recommend using the Shortcuts app to set a focus mode when opening MultiTimer, and configure the shortcut to 1) set the phone to silent mode off, 2) optionally set a specific lock screen with widgets optimized for timer-ing, and change the camera button (lower right) to a silent mode button (this displays a status indicator of silent mode that also works a one touch toggle for silent mode off/on). I hope they add some streamlined view of currently active timers to make things a bit clearer to reduce the clutter when needed. I’ve been using the app for a decade, and I have requested as much, but the developers unfortunately do not see the value in an active timers dashboard.

I went from loving this app to hating it. I went through the trouble of creating an interval timer that had multiple steps and cycles. Originally the sounds were at the beginning of the interval but when during a change to the software they moved the sound to the end of the step. I spent the extra money so I could export my timers to other accounts which I also spent the extra money for - but now the time no longer works. Additionally another inconvenience in this software is when you export and import a time to another account the voice recordings don’t follow.
