User Reviews

Rummikub on iOS is praised for its faithful, educational adaptation and smooth paid version, with addictive, social play. However, it is hampered by monetization concerns (per-click charges/ads), AI that feels unfair and too fast, slow progression, limited multiplayer options (no robust online play), and occasional stability/score issues. These recurring themes suggest a solid core experience clouded by monetization and AI/performance frustrations.
Pros
  • Faithful digital adaptation of Rummikub with rules that closely match the real game (spot-on feel).
  • Great learning tool that helps new players understand how to play and improves skills over time.
  • Smooth performance in the paid/ad-free version, with many users noting reliability.
  • Addictive and enjoyable, making it easy to play with friends and keep sessions social.
Cons
  • Aggressive monetization: per-click charges and ads in the free version, with some users seeing ongoing costs even after upgrading.
  • Unfair or overly fast AI: bots appear to know moves, move quickly, and reduce randomness, making wins feel less random.
  • Very slow or gated progression: high level-up thresholds (e.g., 50k–100k points) discourage advancement and can be frustrating.
  • Limited multiplayer: no true online play with real players; often only two-player mode or inability to play with others online, reducing the social experience.
  • Stability and scoring issues: occasional glitches, score not updating consistently, and reliability problems on certain platforms (e.g., MacOS) leading to crashes or mis-timed moves.

Old reviews had me concerned but multiplayer with my wife is simple and flawless. Totally stable. Used for a while before writing this. Worth every cent (bought full version).

I have enjoyed this game and am happy that it is no available for mobile devices so I can play anywhere. The only issues I have with it is that the ‘undo’ option basically resets your turn by undoing every single move you have made. Most ‘undo’ options on a game simply undo a single move at a time. This becomes very frustrating when I’m playing against the AI and have maneuvered around several tiles in an effort to try and play as many of mine as possible during a turn and try to go back just a couple of steps only to have everything tile I have moved on the board and from my rack go back to the state it was in at the very beginning of my turn. They need to change the ‘undo’ option so that it only goes back one single move at a time or have two different ‘undo’ options where they keep the existing option that resets everything back and another one that goes back one step at a time. I have a version of this game I play on my PC that has the single undo that makes it so much easier. My only other complaint is that the speed in which it takes the AI to play their turn is very slow and should be much faster than this. I realize that some people may want the option to see each turn play out slowly but others like myself just want to get back to my turn so perhaps create an option in the settings that allows you to adjust the speed of AI turns so a user can set it to their preference. If these tweaks could be made to the game I feel it would make it so much better and would garner a 5 star rating from me.

So sad. I guess the implementation is fine, but what a tragically unfair and strange game. If you prefer games that have agency and meaning, avoid.
