User Reviews

Epicenter offers a visually stunning, globe-based view of recent earthquakes with reliable USGS data and handy timeline features. Users praise its polished UI, globe interactions, and widgets, plus Apple Watch support. However, several reviews note stability and data-refresh issues, including crashes and intermittent updates, which can hamper real-time tracking. Overall, it’s a powerful, visually engaging quake visualization tool with room for improved reliability.
Pros
  • Beautiful, elegant UI with a rotatable 3D globe and smooth animations.
  • Access to USGS earthquake data with per-event details on iPhone/iPad and Apple Watch.
  • Strong history/timeline features, including a 30-day view and timeline controls (accumulation vs interval).
  • Engaging globe visualization with easy zoom/pan and contextual event dots.
  • Useful widgets (Today View) and quick access to latest/closest quakes.
Cons
  • Stability issues: app crashes on some devices, especially with older iOS versions.
  • Data refresh reliability: the app can stop updating or display server/connectivity errors at times.

Great app! One suggestion, could we select a specific date we want to look at from the dates on the bottom? I’d like to see the location of the earthquakes that happened in my town all morning.

This is an awesome app, and the dev seems very attentive to dealing with issues and keeping things up to date and working smoothly. For some reason I can no longer get the app to work on my phone. When I try to open it, it immediately crashes and closes again. My first assumption is that the issue is on my end. I have an iPhone 13 Pro Max, but my iOS is really outdated(v16.3). Updating that may fix the issue. If I get the chance to update iOS, I’ll update this review with the results as well.

For those interested, this is a great iPad app with a beautifully designed user interface. The base is an earth globe, rotatable in any direction. Tap on an earthquake's dot for detailed infomation. Appears to use USGS data. (Previous review edited and updated. iPhone issue went away.)
