User Reviews

The Brain/iKon iOS app is valued for field adjustments and firmware updates when functioning, but it is plagued by chronic instability and Bluetooth connectivity issues. Users repeatedly report crashes, random closures, and pairing/dropout problems, including “cannot communicate with unit.” Mac users face no native Mac version, pushing Windows/Boot Camp workarounds. Several note the app’s price and unreliability, though a subset finds it usable after updates. Top takeaways: useful for field control when it works; reliability and cross‑platform support are the major pain points.
Pros
  • Handy for on-field adjustments and firmware updates
  • App becomes more stable and usable after updates (improved reliability in newer versions)
  • Generally useful when it works for controlling the FBL units in the field
Cons
  • Frequent crashes, freezes, and instability across many reviews
  • Bluetooth pairing problems and dropouts; errors like “cannot communicate with unit”
  • Lack of native Mac support (Windows/Boot Camp needed); some users report needing alternate methods
  • Perceived poor value due to reliability issues and price (reported $9.99)
  • Bugs such as index out of range/log failures and missing configuration options for certain devices

So you spend the extra hard earned $$$ to buy Bluetooth functionality, download the App, and when you go to use it, it just doesn’t work. Very very frustrating. I was able to connect to the device, but get dropped within 1 min. Please fix the Alert (G/cannot communicate with unit) and the dropouts. People expect for these expensive toys to work!! BTW, both Brain2HD and iKon2HD behave the same. They have the same issues, so if you think buying an iKon will yield better results, been there done that!! I guess for now it’s back to using a PC only!! Hopefully these defects get fixed since we did pay for them!

I have it on a Goblin 380 and it’s pretty much useless. I always have to go to computer to get it to make changes. NTSB dream come true

I had high hopes for this, having bought the Bluetooth module for the Brain unit. But his app is complete garbage! It locks up and crashes every time I try to use it. I want my money back for the app, but I guess I won’t get it. And the money for the Bluetooth was a waste too.
