Mobile VR Station is a native iOS VR media player designed for head-tracked viewing on a floating virtual screen. It supports photos, panoramas, 360° content, and videos in 2D, Side-by-Side (SBS), and Over-Under formats, with flexible projection modes (Dome, Full Dome, Curved, Plane, Cylinder, Spherical) and 47 built-in skyboxes. Each user/headset can have its own profile for personalized viewing.

The app includes a Cardboard QR scanner, UPnP access, Bluetooth/MFI remote control, language switching, UTF-8 subtitles, and per-file icons/metadata. It’s English-only, DRM-free, and optimized for iOS devices; the free version limits playback to the first five minutes.

Mobile VR Station offers a feature-rich VR video player that many users praise for watching personal content and for customization, and it’s still updated. However, it suffers from major reliability and compatibility issues on newer iOS versions (head-tracking lag, unresponsiveness), limited codec support with frequent buffering, slow performance, and a monetization model that imposes limits and paid upgrades, plus a clunky VR UI that hampers usability.

Pros

Cons

Recent reviews

I used this paid version of the app for years and it was basic but worked great for google cardboard compatible headsets on an iPhone. Most VR media firms now encode h.265. The newer phones all support this but this app does not play h.265 encoded video files. it just displays a page of icons. The sound comes through, just no video. I've tried to contact the developer several times but there hasn't been a reply on this issue.
