User Reviews

Reviewers largely praise Yamera for deep manual controls, preset saving, and stellar results for moon/astro photography, with a straightforward, user-friendly feel and a one-time purchase. However, common complaints span several recurring issues: inconsistent focus and shutter behavior (manual focus blocked or unreliable; long exposure slider quirks), and broader stability problems on newer iPhones/macros, including color/white-balance inconsistencies and occasional white splotches. Users also report intrusive bottom ads and content concerns, plus several UI/UX annoyances (settings locking reverting to auto, panel clutter, missing Kelvin scale). Feature gaps like RAW/HDR limitations and video stamping add to the mixed experience.
Pros
  • Extensive manual controls (focus, exposure, ISO, shutter, white balance) with tweakable warmth and saturation.
  • Presets saving and a one-time purchase (no subscription).
  • Better control and outputs than the stock iPhone camera, especially for moon/astro photography.
  • Easy to use and approachable interface with helpful features like a visible timestamp when desired.
Cons
  • Inconsistent focus and shutter control: manual focus can be blocked or unreliable; long-exposure slider can reset or behave unexpectedly.
  • Compatibility and stability issues on newer iPhones/macros, including color/white-balance inconsistencies and occasional artifacts (e.g., white splotches).
  • Intrusive bottom ads and content concerns (inappropriate content) that hinder use and deter educators.
  • UI/UX issues: locking controls revert to auto when switching tabs; cluttered UI and missing Kelvin scale.
  • Feature gaps: RAW/HDR limitations, inability to stamp video, and limited macro support.

I bought the pro version 5.5 and it mostly works on my iPhone 12, iOS 18.7.7. BUT the manual focus is blocked. When I press “focus” the “Auto” and “Locked” modes are crossed out and the “position“ slider is locked. BTW, I would have preferred to report this problem privately but I didn’t find an email address for AppMadang.

I love this app! It has so many settings I can tweak as I need. I can manually adjust focus, warmth, saturation, exposure. I can snap a photo with a visible timestamp if I want. I can save camera presets so I don’t need to adjust them every time I need to take a photo of the stars. But there’s also an auto mode to take care of all that for you if you don’t want to tweak things, and it consistently outputs higher quality photos than the standard Apple camera. The only thing I wish it would do is give an option to capture video without audio 🙏🏼
