User Reviews

Overall, users praise TRX for its broad workout variety, portability, and clear instruction that suits all levels, making it a strong home/travel solution. However, many reviews cite subscription barriers and value concerns, along with ongoing billing issues. The app is also criticized for stability problems (crashes, slow loading, video playback) and weak discovery/navigation (limited filters, hard-to-find workouts). Users also want better onboarding, scheduling features, and a more transparent experience without forced data collection.
Pros
  • Extensive variety of workouts and progression options across skill levels.
  • Portable and travel-friendly, enabling workouts with minimal equipment.
  • High-quality instructional videos and content that support effective training.
  • Convenient gym-alternative experience, usable at home or on the go.
  • Generally accessible and adaptable to different goals and styles.
Cons
  • Subscription/paywall barriers and value concerns, including forced sign-in and access controls.
  • Frequent app instability—crashes, freezing, slow loading, and video playback issues.
  • Weak discovery and navigation—poor search/filters and onboarding can be confusing.
  • Billing and cancellation problems, such as charges after cancellation and unclear account management.
  • Missing scheduling/plan-building features to organize workouts.

Great workout with Keith. His instructions are clear and he gives options for different fitness levels. Really “enjoyed” his workout. “Enjoyed” may be an over exaggeration 😜

The app is very well put together with excellent time-based training. It just doesn’t work for me. I’m new to suspension training, and I would like more guidance on how to perform the exercises correctly in the app, including the angles and levers, and when to choose one exercise over another. It would be nice to be able to use a library of exercises without having to subscribe, even on a limited basis, for a simple understanding of correct form and what to avoid. It would be helpful to be able to build your own routine to achieve personalized fitness goals. Trying to learn the correct setup for time-based workouts is difficult; there’s no single set for how to do the basic exercises without a subscription, so you have to jump to YouTube or the desktop website.

There aren’t many systems for resistance training that can accommodate essentially anyone, anywhere. TRX is the ultimate home and travel workout system. I’ve been a competitive bodybuilder and as I’ve gotten older and dealing with some injuries and pain issues, TRX still offers a complete and challenging workout without being tied to a gym or risking injury from lifting barbells and dumbbells
