Features & Capabilities

VIZpin Smart lets you unlock doors with your smartphone and receive smartkeys remotely. It also offers video intercom when enabled on a compatible device, and you can generate temporary visitor codes right in the app.

Security is layered with encryption to deter copying or hacking. The app includes a proximity-based widget for quick access, auto-login, favorites, notifications, and the option to request access from a Building Manager via a Location ID and note, so they can send a smartkey. Compatible with iPhone on iOS 15+ and Bluetooth.

User Reviews

Users praise Vizpin Smart for easy, keyless entry and strong customer service, usable across homes, gyms, and businesses. However, many reviews converge on reliability problems (frequent key refreshes and unlock failures), lack of a manual/offline fallback if the phone dies, and missing automation features (no Apple Watch app, shortcuts/widgets). The app’s UX is also described as outdated with loud beeps, which undermines the overall experience despite the core convenience.
Pros
  • Easy to use and fast unlock (1-2 seconds) when functioning
  • Keyless access across multiple doors (no physical keys)
  • Responsive and helpful customer service
  • Works well for a variety of installations and simple setup
Cons
  • Frequent reliability and latency issues: the app often refreshes keys, stalls, or fails to unlock
  • No manual unlock or offline fallback if your phone dies, leading to potential lockouts
  • Lack of Apple Watch app and absence of automation options (shortcuts/widgets) hindering workflows
  • Outdated UI and disruptive beeping noise, contributing to a poor user experience

RFID radio waves can be copied and mimicked, our apartment complex are about to install these, anybody with a rooted android, jb iPhone, or flipper zero device can capture your frequency and walk into your home. Same goes for your cars with push button start. Physical key and lock is safer, if it ain’t broken don’t fix it, this is just for convenience but it brings on new problems like what if your phone dies lol.

This just got installed at my apartment complex yesterday and I already don’t like it. The actual lock/unlock functionality is fine which is why I give it 2 stars, but everything around it is terrible. This could be a great app but there are a lot of essentials that this app and the hardware it relies on needs that just aren’t present. There’s no form of manual unlock offered in case your phone dies, you just have to contact your leasing office’s after hours number (which how can one do without a phone?). Their website claims to offer widgets for easy access but there doesn’t seem to be any available as of April 2026. There also aren’t any Apple shortcuts so don’t even think about setting up an automation to trigger an unlock when you approach the door. Even to just lock the door on your way out you need to open the app and hit the button, there’s nothing on the lock interface to automatically move the bolt, it’s still manual. I don’t understand why the lock cannot just automatically move the bolt for you once you tap the button as opposed to tapping the button and then moving the bolt manually. Once you trigger the lock activation it works fine but it’s just absolutely clunky with unnecessary steps. I can tell from previous reviews too that they’ve been promising an Apple Watch app for years now and that also still doesn’t exist, showing that they are not serious on improving based on user feedback. It also makes an obnoxiously loud beeping noise that I’m worried will wake my roommate when I get home late. It seems like whatever speaker the sound is coming from is stupidly placed on the inner part of the lock as it is more muffled on the entrance to my unit. The UI of the app is incredibly outdated too. There are plenty of other smart locks with apps that are much more efficient than this, I don’t recommend VIZPin.

Where is your Apple Watch app? You certainly can do NFC with the Apple Watch unburdening me from carrying both my phone and watch into the gym and risking it getting my phone stolen.new update 2/10/26 still no Apple Watch app. Come on already
