User Reviews

Users praise Qobuz for top‑tier sound quality and artist‑friendly ethics, but reliability and usability struggles hinder adoption. Recurrent themes include playback interruptions, offline/download issues, a cluttered interface and queue, gaps in the catalog, and problematic CarPlay performance. Addressing offline play, stability, and navigation would greatly improve the experience.
Pros
  • Exceptional sound quality unmatched by competitors (e.g., Spotify).
  • Artist-friendly approach with fair compensation and rejection of AI, plus human curation.
  • Expansive and curated library offering diverse discovery.
  • Active ongoing development and improvements by the app team.
Cons
  • Frequent playback interruptions and instability (pauses, stops, delays) across devices.
  • Offline downloads do not reliably play offline; downloads sometimes fail, disappear, or require re-downloading; consumes significant storage.
  • Clunky UI/UX and problematic queue management; slow responsiveness and hard-to-find controls.
  • Content gaps and catalog inconsistencies (missing artists/albums, titles disappear), affecting discovery.
  • CarPlay and driving usage experience is poor due to cutouts and playback issues.

Overall, media is high quality, and it was easy to get my music ported from another service to here. There are a few behaviors in the app that I find a little strange: 1. I listen to a lot of Japanese music. Most of the song and album titles end up getting translated to English, which makes them harder to find and search (especially because I say, “most”, not all, here) 2. When I open the app after not using it for a day or so, it did not save my previous playback state (queue, playback settings like shuffle, etc) 3. When I search for a song in my playlist, hit play, and then hit shuffle, the queue-able songs are only results of the search. This is unintuitive to me. I end up having to wait for the song to play, remove the search filter, and hit shuffle to do what I want 4. It’d be nice if user-added items to the play queue would be prioritized above others. That way, I can add 5 songs I want to be played in the order I want them played. This is doable now if I do it in reverse order and add items to the top of the queue, but that’s a bit unintuitive

enjoying the app after switching from spotify but I greatly miss having the ability to set a sleep timer!

I definitely think this app can be the absolute greatest out of all of its competitors if these features were to be added: -Lyrics in songs -For you/ personalized section on the desktop app and not just the mobile app(this one is huge for me) -playlist image customization and profile picture support -fix the issue of artist catalog occasionally mixing with another artist with the same name Happy to see each update makes the app better and better but if these features were available I think there would be no competition.
