The app is praised for broad EXIF editing and strong Apple Photos integration, plus useful workflow extensions and rich metadata. However, it struggles with stability on new iPads, performance/refresh issues, import/export and search/navigation limitations, privacy-sharing controls, and GPS precision constraints. Overall, feature-rich but inconsistent across devices and workflows.

Pros

Offers extensive EXIF editing across many fields (more than most apps).
Excellent integration with Apple Photos, making editing and saving within the Photos workflow convenient.
Useful workflow features, including Action Extensions, for editing data across apps.
Provides rich metadata insights with detailed EXIF data (camera, lens, GPS, shutter count, etc.).

Cons

Stability and compatibility problems on newer iPads and iPadOS versions (crashes or unresponsive when saving/removing data).
Slow/laggy performance and unreliable refresh when new media is added or updated in the library.
Import/export difficulties with Apple Photos and lack of efficient search/navigation in the photo library (no practical search function).
Limited per-photo EXIF sharing/privacy controls (difficult to control what data is shared with recipients).
GPS precision limitations (GPS editor only supports about 6 digits after the decimal, reducing location accuracy).

Recent reviews

I purchased the paid version a few years ago. It worked great then. But in 2026, mid-May, it’s completely unusable. It will show the EXIF data…mostly, although there are times I edit the data elsewhere and it never shows in this app. Another app here will pick it up immediately. I’m not sure if the developers are still actively working on this project, but I would find another app that is currently being updated to work with the newer versions of iOS. This was written on 19May2026, on a iPhone 17 ProMax, running iOS v26.4.2.

I loved this app on my older iPad, but on my new iPad M4 running iPadOS 26.4, EXIF Viewer version 6.4 (641) doesn’t work. I was able to edit one photo, but after that, whichever photo I select is shown briefly in the edit window and then immediately replaced by the most recent item in my photo library, whatever that happens to be. This renders the software useless, as far as I can tell.
