Features & Capabilities

Someone in the car used to know things. Now someone does again: decide the weekend from one link, then drive it narrated. Getting there is the getaway.

Your weekend, planned together and narrated on the way there.

Because getting there is the getaway.

ONE SCREEN Every getaway lives on a single feed and wears whatever state it's in — an invite waiting on your answer, a vote in progress, a guide being written, a drive ready to go, a weekend you already had. Below yours: ready-made drives near you, for when you want to leave in an hour. One button starts the next — paste a stay, pick an idea, join with a code, or just drive.

DRIVES THAT START AT YOUR DOORSTEP Tap Near me and the answers begin where you're standing. An evening in Dublin offers Livermore wine country up the road, Niles Canyon through the trees, and Mount Diablo an hour out — three cards at three real distances, with drive times measured from you, not the nearest big city.

PLAN IT TOGETHER Paste the link to the stay you booked — Airbnb, Vrbo, a hotel — and Getaways builds the trip around it: a real name, a real map, days sketched with places worth leaving the cabin for. Can't agree? It proposes getaways nearby and the group votes. Friends join from one link and vote from the web — no account, no install.

ONE SCHEDULE EVERYONE SEES Every trip keeps a shared schedule, grouped by day. Add dinner, a show, a hike — or attach a narrated drive to the morning you'll take it — and it lands on everyone's phone.

A PLANNER THAT LISTENS Type the weekend the way you'd text it. "Friday: Omnia at 11. Saturday brunch at Bacchanal. Sphere show Sunday at 7." The planner hands back a proposal — every change its own row, with the reason it thought so. Keep it all, drop a row, or answer its one question. Nothing reaches the group until you say yes, and your note is read on your phone, not a server.

THE CONCIERGE Press start and someone is there. "This is Livermore Wine Country — 14 stories along the way." If the road begins across town, it promises to come get you: "we'll start about ten minutes north of here; I'll pick you up there." The moment you reach it: "Here we are — first story coming up in half a mile." A soft chime rings before each story.

THEN IT TALKS ON THE WAY THERE Every trip writes its own narrated drive for the route you're taking. As you approach a waterfall, an overlook, a bridge with a story, a voice speaks up — "coming up on your left…" — all grounded in real facts. Music dips under it and comes right back. It's all prepared before you leave, so it works past the last bar of signal.

STORY, OR ROUTE The player has two places and a door between them. Story: full-screen artwork that changes with every telling, a scrubber, skip forward and back, an up-next queue, the transcript when you'd rather read. Route: the living map — your car, the road filling in behind you, the stories ahead as markers you can tap to hear now.

SEARCH THAT NEVER DEAD-ENDS One field over curated drives, getaway ideas, and everywhere else. Type a mood, a town, a park. If we haven't written your road yet, the last row still offers it — anywhere you can drive becomes a getaway.

EVERY CAR HEARS IT The guide belongs to the trip, not the phone that made it. Anyone on the trip opens it on their own phone, and each car triggers stories off its own GPS. Two cars, one narrator.

DRIVES WORTH TAKING You don't need a trip to take a drive. Download a ready-made one — Yosemite, Big Sur, Lake Tahoe, Malibu, Joshua Tree, Mount Rainier, the Columbia Gorge, Livermore, Niles Canyon, Mount Diablo. Each gets a page of its own first: how long, how far, how many stories, the road on a map, what to know before you leave. Then one button.

THE DETAILS • Sign in once with Apple, Google, email, or your phone number. No passwords, ever. • A Live Activity keeps the next story on your Lock Screen, phone face down. • Open any stop in Apple Maps; drop the big moments into your calendar. • Parking and arrival tips for the stops that need them, from official sources.

The next free weekend is closer than the group chat makes it feel. Step into more.

User Reviews

A true gift for travelers. Getaway makes trips easier and more thoughtfully planned. Every journey comes with the same hopes—to have fun, feel cared for, stay present, and connect with local culture—but actually making that happen is hard, especially when traveling with kids, a spouse, or a partner. Getaway is a strong step toward solving that problem, and I’m genuinely excited to see where it goes next.
