Features & Capabilities

Wheel by Superpedestrian turns your bicycle into a smart electric hybrid by pairing the Copenhagen Wheel with a companion app. The wheel senses your pedaling and automatically adjusts assist, making hills feel flat and distances easier, while you can fine-tune power levels directly in the app.

The Wheel app provides Trends and Insights, showing time, distance, calories, power, elevation, and more, plus the ability to share control with friends and family. Note: Continued GPS use in the background can reduce battery life.

User Reviews

Users praise the Copenhagen Wheel hardware and value, with the app generally enabling a good experience. However, multiple reviews cite significant software issues: repeated login and server outages, crashes and unstable connections, data loss, and limited wheel-size support. There is also concern over insufficient ongoing support and missing features (e.g., Apple Watch compatibility). Additionally, GPS use can drain the iPhone battery. Overall, the hardware is highly regarded, but the app’s reliability and continued support need substantial improvement.
Pros
  • App generally manages the Copenhagen Wheel effectively.
  • When functioning, the app provides a solid user experience and decent control over the wheel.
  • The overall wheel+app package is widely regarded as a good value and a strong investment.
  • Reviewers often note the ride experience is smooth and enjoyable, which the app helps enable.
Cons
  • Recurring login/authentication issues (e.g., Google sign-in, password reset failures) and server outages that render the app unusable.
  • App instability: crashes, unreliable wheel detection/connection, and occasional loss of ride data or wheel identity.
  • Limited wheel-size support and lack of circumference customization, leading to inaccurate speed/distance for non-700 wheels.
  • Perceived lack of ongoing support and updates (and missing features like Apple Watch compatibility).
  • GPS usage drains iPhone battery and requires manual reconnection/inconvenience when riding.

It has been buggy for years and now I can’t sign in via Google or add a guest. Pretty frustrating.

App not working I can no longer sign in. Wheel unusable.

The tire size options appear to be associated with circumferences for 700 wheels. I use 26” wheels on recumbent trikes. Can’t seem to motivate app developer to update for this wheel size or change to allow user to enter circumference value for accurate speed and distance. Support seems nonexistent. Does anyone know if this app still works? Heard the closed up everything.
