User Reviews

Pros: broad Unicode symbol library, free and intuitive use, ongoing Unicode updates, and support for niche needs like braille. Cons: inconsistent Wingdings organization, gaps in the Unicode catalog, poor symbol search/discovery, and occasional UI/display issues on certain devices.
Pros
  • Large, diverse Unicode symbol library across many character sets
  • Free to use, intuitive and feature-rich
  • Up-to-date Unicode support with recent symbol additions (e.g., Creative Commons symbols)
  • Useful for accessibility and niche symbol needs (e.g., braille patterns)
Cons
  • Wingdings content is not organized; no Wingdings category; users want Wingdings in its own category
  • Incomplete Unicode catalog missing many symbols (runes, hieroglyphics) and diacritics (e.g., Nikudim)
  • Weak discoverability: no lookup by name or code; scrolling is tedious
  • UI/display issues on some devices (keyboard may appear cropped or off-screen)

07 Feb 2024 The Uni Keyboards is very functional EXCEPT the developers choose to defy Apple and other’s keyboard layout putting the key to switch through keyboards on the top right corner of their keyboard instead of the lower left like Apple and everyone else does which leads to issues of having to find the key in an abnormal position and essentially defies UI/UX because the key isn’t in the right place to enable cycling through all keyboards. If you wanted to differentiate yourselves from everyone else, then you did that dammit …. Now put it back where it belongs! The character sets are now up to date with Unicode standards. Example, Creative Commons symbols adopted in 2022. I am sure that Apple is also equally behind as well and CC members are clamoring especially in light of the latest federal decisions on copyrights.

I can't find the power symbol. I don't think this has everything. I would like to be able to lookup a symbol by name and code. Scrolling to look for a symbol becomes tedious and time consuming.

Uni is a very good keyboard and I use it almost daily but I wish there was more of a sorting fonts because I want to access all the Wingdings symbols but I don’t know what they all are so some sorting would be great
