User Reviews

Photomath is valued for strong, multi-method explanations and rapid homework help, often saving users time and improving understanding. However, many reviews note reliability issues (misreads, wrong answers, and vague steps) and pricing friction (ads and Plus subscriptions). The app remains a powerful educational aid for many, but its usefulness is tempered by inconsistent performance and monetization prompts.
Pros
  • Clear step-by-step explanations and multiple solving methods, aided by helpful animations.
  • Helps with homework and accelerates understanding of math concepts.
  • Regarded by many as a lifesaver and a strong, reliable study companion.
  • Valuable functionality available for free, offering meaningful assistance without payment.
  • Viewed as a powerful learning tool and, for some, preferable to traditional instruction.
Cons
  • Accuracy issues and misreadings: problems are sometimes read incorrectly or answered incorrectly, with mismatched questions.
  • Step explanations can be poor or illogical in newer versions, reducing helpfulness.
  • Ads and prompts to use Plus or Google's AI disrupt the experience.
  • Plus subscription requirements and pricing friction limit access to preferred features.
  • Inconsistent performance across problems, leading to distrust in reliability.

Most of the time it’ll try to redirect you to google bc it can’t answer the questions. and if it’s not doing that, it answers a completely different question. i mean i take a picture of a question with all the answers included and it pops up a picture of a different question with different answer choices and it answers that. if i’m taking a picture it should be smart enough to answer the question that’s in the picture

Great for simple math, but it doesn't know complex math on a high school/college level. Many answers were made up or incorrect

I love to use this in class on my math tests so that I don’t fail my class and it shows me the work so it doesn’t just look like I googled the answer so I can write the work in my paper so it’s untraceable
