Pryvate: Encrypted Messenger

Private Calls, Messaging & VPN

Features & Capabilities

Pryvate is the all-in-one encrypted messenger that puts your privacy first: messages, calls, email, video, and browsing—without giving your data to carriers, advertisers, or governments. It uses military-grade RSA-4096 + AES-256, post-quantum ZRTP for voice and video, and OS-proof privacy so in-app data stays on-device. No data collection means you’re anonymous.

Key features include secure messaging with self-destruct timers, encrypted calls, unlimited encrypted video conferencing, anonymous browsing, anonymous numbers, remote wipe, and global calling. Pryvate is free to download; premium adds off-net calling, anonymous numbers, and unlimited conferencing. Designed for professionals, journalists, activists, families, and remote teams who value digital privacy.

User Reviews

Pryvate is praised for strong encryption, privacy focus, and a robust all-in-one feature set (email, file transfer, crypto wallet, browser, video) along with good call quality, and users note improvements in newer versions. Major recurring drawbacks include onboarding friction (phone-number sign-up and permissions), ongoing reliability bugs (notifications, authentication, remote config) with weak support, privacy frustrations on Apple Watch notifications, and billing or regional limitations.
Pros
  • Strong encryption and privacy protection praised by users.
  • All-in-one feature set (email, file transfer, cryptocurrency wallet, browser, video) appealing to privacy-conscious users and professionals.
  • Good call quality and emphasis on privacy for communications.
  • Notable improvements in newer versions according to users.
Cons
  • Sign-up requires phone number and broad permissions up front, raising privacy concerns.
  • Reliability and bug problems: missed or false notifications, remote configuration fetch failures, SMS/auth issues, and perceived poor support.
  • Privacy issues with Apple Watch notifications showing content and inability to disable this behavior.
  • Billing/subscription problems and pricing concerns (subscription issues, unexpected charges, PayPal requirements).
  • Regional limitations (e.g., Maldives phone numbers not supported).
Recent reviews
It didn’t use to but now requires phone number to sign up. Also, it “requires” access to Contacts, Camera, and more before you can finish signing up or using the app. WHY?

Apple Watch notifications are set to mirror phone. My phone has Show Preview Off. So I don't see the contents of each message on my phone notifications but I do see the contents on my iwatch...which I don't want but can't turn that off.

We would truly appreciate a black theme it’s currently too bright as there are times when we really need to have a dark black stealthy theme other then that keep up the good work
