Features & Capabilities

Canasta is the popular rummy-family card game, also known as Argentine Rummy. This Chrome extension lets you play as a team against computer opponents, drawing and discarding to form melds and work toward a canasta.

Jokers introduce unpredictability and strategic depth. A canasta—seven-card melds—helps your team finish the round, and points are awarded for melds. The first team to reach 5000 points wins the game.

User Reviews

Advert-free, fast, and beginner-friendly Canasta with offline/online play is well-liked, but repeated concerns about unfair AI/partner behavior, rule deviations, disruptive audio, and unstable odds limit satisfaction.
Pros
  • Ad-free / no ads
  • Fast, responsive gameplay that feels like playing a real opponent
  • Easy to learn with a user-friendly interface
  • Offline/online play (works without WiFi)
  • Enjoyable and brain-engaging Canasta experience (nostalgia)
Cons
  • Perceived unfairness and rigging by AI/partners: cards favor the opponent and matches can end early while you’re ahead
  • AI/partner behavior often unhelpful or sabotaging (dumb moves, discarding needed cards)
  • Not faithful to traditional Canasta rules (appears to use a different meld system)
  • Annoying sound effects that persist even when muted
  • Balance/stability issues and inconsistent odds (game endings, unfavorable AI behavior)

I’m really loving this canasta card game. I used to play this game years ago with real cards snd once I refreshed my memory on the rules, I’ve been playing it every day!

I’ve tried several Canasta apps. This one by far has the best board. I like that you can pick how many cards you want dealt (well that is up until it’s time to buy the app. If you chose not to buy it, you’re stuck with 11 cards dealt out forever) I love that I am not bombarded with ads, too. That probably makes it the most appealing. I do not like that you get to pick up the whole deck without melding your full requirement first. We also have always played that once a Canasta is made it becomes a dead card. (Treated like a black 3 unless you have two in your hand) My partner isn’t the sharpest, but I have played with real humans that are worse. So I have actually enjoyed this app. I’ve played continually for days. It’s great on an iPad.
