Thumbtack is one of the most unfair platforms for service professionals. It is not designed to help skilled and experienced contractors succeed. Thumbtack is the only one guaranteed to make money because professionals are charged for leads, even when customers never respond or are simply looking for the cheapest possible price. The platform attracts too many people who expect professional-quality work for next to nothing. In my experience, it undervalues skilled tradespeople and turns the industry into a race to the lowest price.
