User Reviews

Users largely praise ParentSquare for direct school communication and convenient updates, including access to shared photos. However, recurring concerns center on notification management (oversaturation and hard-to-clear badges), usability (confusing navigation and limited font controls), and reliability issues after updates (crashes or the app not opening). Some users also want better filtering to hide irrelevant schools. Overall, it functions well for messaging but needs UX improvements and better notification controls to reduce noise and avoid outages.
Pros
  • Strong, direct communication with teachers and school administration through the app, with clear announcements.
  • Centralized updates and notifications help parents stay informed without juggling multiple channels.
  • Ability to view and download photos or student work shared by teachers.
Cons
  • Notification overload: too many alerts, badges are hard to clear, and users want more control to filter relevant information (granularity).
  • Poor UX/UI and confusing navigation: tab vs drawer layout, lack of font size adjustment, and inconsistent behavior across staff.
  • Reliability issues after updates: the app can crash or fail to open, and login/sign-in friction can occur.
  • Difficulty filtering out information from irrelevant schools or groups you’re not involved with.

PLEASE FIX THE NEW UPDATE!!! I can’t open anything on the bell with notifications. It says 48 new notifications but every time I click on the ones not opened (or opened) it says “an error occurred…” and I can’t open it and it still has 48 new ones Also on alerts icon there’s a red dot and I click every one of the new alerts but then it reappears with the same one as if I never clicked on it. On messages there’s also a red dot but I opened ever message and it still has the red dot by message icon. Thank you! Our schools use this app and I love it. You can easily reach out to teachers and it’s a very easy to use app. The only thing I really wish they would add is a way to bookmark certain posts. For example, ones that are really important for me, or ones that I can easily go back to if needed, instead of searching through all the posts.. I have 6 kids and in 5 different schools and I get a lot of posts.. some are just info and some require action. It would be SO HELPFUL to be able to bookmark/favorite those certain posts!! Thank you!!!!
