User Reviews

User reviews largely rate Ricoh Smart Device Connector as unreliable and hard to use on iOS. Recurrent issues include AirPrint not detecting printers, inability or partial printing, crashes/blank screens after updates, unstable connectivity via QR/Bluetooth/IP, and compatibility problems across printer models and iOS versions. UI is often described as confusing with missing guidance and features (no scanning, limited in-app printing from web pages). Some report rare workarounds (printer settings, Bonjour sharing) that can enable printing for specific configurations, but overall reliability is poor.
Pros
  • Multi-method connection options (AirPrint, QR code, Bluetooth, and direct IP) offer flexible ways to connect to printers from iOS.
  • Some printers can work with specific settings/workarounds (e.g., enabling PCL6 universal mode, sharing the printer, and using Bonjour) to achieve printing in certain configurations.
  • The app is intended to enable mobile printing from Ricoh devices on iOS, providing a dedicated pathway for mobile printing.
Cons
  • AirPrint detection and printer recognition are repeatedly unreliable across many reviews.
  • Users report inability to print or only partial printing (e.g., six-page documents printing only first two pages).
  • The app is prone to crashes, freezes, or blank screens after updates, making it unusable.
  • Connectivity methods (QR code, Bluetooth, IP) are inconsistent and often fail to establish a connection.
  • There are broad UI/UX and feature gaps (confusing interface, lack of guidance, no scanning, limited support for various printers/models and iOS versions).

Hello, if the customer have 1000 iPad to install app, uses Jamf or MDM to push this app to iOS devices, is it possible to fill in those field required in Print Server setting with script, such as server address, domain name, user name etc.rather than manually type it.

I tried printing a six page pdf from my iPhone. The printer couldn't be detected through AirPrint so I downloaded the app in hopes of getting what I needed. It only printed the first two pages of a six page document.

Just like everyone else said. A waste of time to download and try to use. Doesn’t work. Doesn’t recognize the printer. Tried the QR code, Bluetooth, and IP address to connect to the printer.
