Features & Capabilities

Allergy Pollen Count provides real-time pollen and mold counts based on air samples collected by NAB-certified counters, part of the National Allergy Bureau within the AAAAI. These counts reflect actual environmental exposure and help users track allergen levels.

The app also offers continuously updated allergy education videos by Board Certified Allergist Dr. Safadi, delivering accessible insights for patients and caregivers.

User Reviews

The app is valued for providing allergen counts that help with allergy management, but it is largely hampered by outdated data, poor location targeting, missing detailed pollen breakdowns, and reliability issues. Many reviews repeatedly note stale information, irrelevant regional data, and that the app no longer matches the previews or expectations set by the App Store.
Pros
  • Provides allergen counts (pollen and mold) to help users gauge allergy risk.
  • Helps with allergy management and planning to stock medications based on current counts.
  • Offers convenient in-app options such as viewing office hours and calling a clinic from the app.
Cons
  • Data is stale or outdated and not consistently updated (counts from 2018–2019 or not refreshed).
  • Location coverage and targeting are poor: users cannot reliably set their home area and nearby stations often far away or irrelevant.
  • Details and breakdowns are missing: app no longer lists specific pollen types (trees/grass/weed) and often deviates from App Store previews.
  • Reliability/compatibility issues: app may fail to open or show old data, and some users report freezes or non-updating counts.
  • Regional coverage concerns: data appears Ohio-centric or otherwise not representative of the user’s location.

I thought I would get allergy reports for my area. The closest count is hundreds of miles from my area. There is no feature for telling it where I live.

I love the updates Dr Safadi gives on facebook, and thought I would just use the app instead. Unfortunately it looks like its no longer being updated, so I immediately uninstalled it.
