User Reviews

User reviews consistently praise 5-Minute Emergency Medicine for being concise, fast, and highly usable at the bedside. Many consider it an indispensable reference, especially for ER and prehospital care, and appreciate its portable, self-contained design without sign-in barriers. However, recurring concerns center on the app’s indexing and labeling: missing topics, mislabels, and typos. Other frequent complaints include a high, inflexible price and cross-device licensing, plus dissatisfaction with outdated UI and update policies that require repurchasing. Some mention incomplete content after purchase.
Pros
  • Concise, rapid, and practical with streamlined treatment plans.
  • Indispensable reference for clinicians; widely used and worth the money.
  • Portable and self-contained with no sign-in requirements.
  • Helpful for prehospital and ER needs, including quick refresher sections.
  • Easy to navigate and manipulate through conditions; need-to-know ER information.
Cons
  • Indexing and labeling problems: missing topics, mislabels, and typos (e.g., eclampsia missing; perforated viscous on a preview).
  • High price and inflexible licensing; cross-device costs or re-purchasing.
  • Update/OS compatibility issues; iOS 11 update problem and forced re-purchase.
  • Outdated UI/UX on newer devices; not optimized for iPhone 6/6 Plus.
  • Content may be incomplete or not delivered after purchase (e.g., 'no content' for $99).

Paramedic here, love the app. Great refresher. VeryConcise. I love the section for prehospital care. Over all, I would buy this app even if was double the price .

Have used this app for years and love it, but current version has horrible index with many topics missing or mislabeled. I.e. try looking up “eclampsia”. Not there. Look up pre-eclampsia and tap on it and you get PTSD. Needs serious work.
