User Reviews

User reviews overwhelmingly cite data loss and access failures after migrating Prog Magazine to a new app. Repeated issues include lost back issues and subscriptions, failed restoration of purchases, login problems, and post-update content disappearing. The new app’s UI is criticized as confusing and less usable than the old version, and support for refunds is inconsistent. While some readers still value the magazine’s content and note friendly support, the core promise of reliable digital access remains unfulfilled for most subscribers.
Pros
  • Prog Magazine content is highly valued by readers (positive sentiment toward the magazine itself).
  • Some reviewers appreciate having Prog Magazine accessible on a mobile app when it works, noting it enables travel use and convenient access.
  • A few comments mention friendly support staff when questions arise.
Cons
  • Loss of back issues and purchased content, with repeated reports that purchases cannot be restored.
  • Subscriptions and purchased content disappearing after updates or app changes, leaving users locked out or paying again.
  • Login failures and password/account access problems.
  • Migration to the new app causing major content access issues, with the old content unreadable or inaccessible in the new interface.
  • Inconsistent or slow customer support and refunds, with users feeling they must chase reimbursements.
  • Confusing and less usable UI/UX in the new app compared to the old one (navigation, page turning, etc.).

Just shutdown, took all my back issues away and now doesn’t work at all. I have no idea why Apple lets this rotting corpse stay in the App Store. Avoid this app at all costs.

It's March 2021, and I'm experiencing the same issues that have been posted here for six years. Purchased issues have been deleted and not restored, then total login failures that haven't been addressed. Can't change your password or otherwise workaround log in errors. They have my money, and I remain locked out. Ridiculous.

The latest app update deleted all issues and after restoring purchases, am missing a number of special issues that I purchased over the years. This is completely unacceptable. Fix this or give refunds on what we bought.
