Features & Capabilities

Xibalba drops players into a retro-inspired first-person shooter set in the Mayan Underworld. You'll navigate lush jungles, eerie catacombs, and high-tech bases filled with dangerous creatures, traps, powerups, and a selection of weapons across six levels, culminating in an epic boss encounter.

The game emphasizes tight, precise controls and a dark ambient soundtrack that creates a dense atmosphere. With six enemy types, three weapons, and a hard mode for added challenge, Xibalba delivers classic arcade shooter thrills—headphones recommended for the best audio experience.

User Reviews

Xibalba is praised for tight controls, a Doom-inspired arcade shooter feel, strong atmosphere, and being ad-free. Many reviews celebrate its smooth gameplay and nostalgic charm. However, the game is consistently described as very short with limited weapons, levels, and enemies, leading to repetition and limited replay value. Boss encounters are sometimes confusing, and players want more content and updates. Overall, a polished, compact indie shooter that shines in short sessions but leaves players craving more.
Pros
  • Excellent, responsive controls that feel smooth across devices
  • Doom-like shooter vibe with strong level design and atmosphere
  • Ad-free experience with no in-app purchases
  • High-quality audio and atmosphere
  • Nostalgic charm and pick-up-and-play fun
Cons
  • Too short with very few levels or content, leading to limited replayability
  • Repetitive / samey level design and limited weapon/enemy variety
  • Boss battles can be confusing or lack clear mechanics

OMG!! THIS IS ABSOLUTE GEM! ABSOLUTE CINEMA!! MUST PLAY!!

The initial gameplay is pick up and play fun. But it often feels half baked. After the first two levels, you can tell the dev just starts recycling. Same weapons. Same type of enemies (sometimes one is red, sometimes blue) … it speaks in riddles without saying anything. Then after rounds of the same gameplay and simple find-the-key level mechanics, you get this cool looking but bizarre boss battle. A memory game mixed with a shooting jump scare type battle that makes no sense, shows no real progression, and with limited space and controls it’s more frustrating than fun. The first several levels now seem like a waste. This game had huge potential but squandered it. It’s an MVP at best. Shame.
