Features & Capabilities

Rave Panic Button is a safety app that speeds emergency response by providing five configurable panic buttons to dial 9-1-1 and alert on-site responders. For lower-severity issues, Staff Assist notifies staff without initiating a 9-1-1 call. When a 9-1-1 call is routed to a participating center, responders receive real-time incident details via Smart911 to help them prepare before arrival.

While the app is free to download, optimal use comes when a school, business, or organization subscribes to the service. Some features require a data connection and location access, and authorization checks are performed during setup. Always contact 9-1-1 in an emergency, and after activating, press the Call button to place the call. Enable notifications and keep a steady Wi‑Fi connection for best performance.

User Reviews

Reviews praise the app as life-saving and easy to set up, effective in drills, with easy geofencing. However, users report reliability issues: alerts are too quiet or not audible; notifications don't bypass silent/Focus modes; watch integration is lacking; signup/verification problems hinder onboarding.
Pros
  • Life-saving tool for campuses; saves lives in drills and emergencies.
  • Easy to set up and deploy, and quick to train staff.
  • Works well in drills with a solid, user-friendly design.
  • Geofencing is easy to configure and effective.
Cons
  • Audible alerts are too quiet or not audible during drills.
  • Alerts do not reliably bypass iPhone silent/Do Not Disturb/Focus settings.
  • Lack of Apple Watch integration; need watch extension or wearable-trigger capability.
  • Onboarding/verification issues like not receiving SMS or sign-up problems.

This is required for schools, and teachers and councilors often rely on Apple Watches. As a teacher moving around campus carrying supplies, my phone is easy to accidentally leave behind. I would feel so much better if this could integrate with a cellular Apple Watch, which I would always have strapped to my wrist. Other than that, it has always worked well in drills, with a great design. Hopefully I will never need it for anything else!

My phone does not alert me with a loud noise. I get a small “ding” on my watch and maybe a small noise on my phone. I’ve seen other have this problem too. Other people in my same office get a loud “alarm” noise when their’s goes off, but I don’t. I’ve messaged support and they “tried” to help me, but I sent screenshots of both my app settings and phone settings, then a separate message about how both times it was activated Friday at work it did not alarm (as per my email, but to confirm nothing was “fixed” on their end) and I have yet to get a reply still 2 days later. My app isn’t working an intended to notify me of an urgent situation and no one cares to help me fix it, I guess.

Despite having every possible iOS notification setting enabled—including Critical Alerts, Time Sensitive Notifications, sounds, and persistent banners—the Rave Panic Button app consistently fails to make a sound during drills or emergencies. I’ve confirmed volume settings, mute switch, Focus modes, and in-app settings, but the app still remains silent. For an application that’s supposed to be used in life-or-death situations, this is unacceptable. If alerts cannot reliably bypass iPhone’s silencing features, the app loses its core purpose. Until this issue is fixed, I cannot recommend relying on it for real emergency communication.
